The 3009D is a hydraulic pneumatic operating table for hospitals whose theatres must be rearranged around different operations through the day. Surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre nurses, and operating department practitioners use its rotating top to position the operative field conveniently.
Head and neck, ENT and maxillofacial surgery often need the surgeon at the head end, and the anaesthetist moved aside. Rotating the top through 90° or 180° places the anaesthetic machine near the feet and opens the head of the table to the operating team, without disconnecting equipment or moving the base. The headboard drops 90° for neck extension in thyroid surgery.
General and renal surgery use the 25° lateral tilt to roll the patient and expose the gallbladder, spleen or kidney, with the shoulder and waist support frames holding the patient on the side. The lumbar corners, reaching 170° and 120°, help open the flank. Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg of 15° serve pelvic and upper abdominal work.
For lithotomy, gynaecology, and urology teams drop the leg boards to 90°, part them to 180°, and fit the leg support frames. Orthopaedic and trauma teams turn the top towards the C-arm and use the carbon plastic plate and coincidence rail for X-ray examination during fixation.
Small, irregularly shaped theatres benefit most, as do suites where lights, gas outlets, and imaging equipment are fixed in place. Turning only the top keeps each case efficient, while the single handle under the head plate and the foot treadle brake keep handling simple.
