The 3008C is a hydraulic operating table for gynaecology, urology and colorectal services, and for general hospitals that run many pelvic and perineal lists. Gynaecologists, urologists, colorectal surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre nurses, and operating department practitioners use it daily.
Gynaecological surgery is a core use. Vaginal hysterectomy, colporrhaphy, hysteroscopy, cervical procedures and evacuation of the uterus all need the patient in lithotomy, with the split leg plates parted and the legs held in the leg support frames. For laparoscopic hysterectomy and ovarian surgery, 20° of Trendelenburg tilts the pelvis upward and moves the bowel clear.
Urology lists use the same setup for cystoscopy, transurethral resection of the prostate, bladder tumours, and ureteroscopy. The surgeon works between the patient’s legs, with the leg boards lowered 90° and the plates opened through 180°. Colorectal surgeons use lithotomy for haemorrhoid, fistula and perianal procedures, and for combined abdominal and perineal approaches.
The table also covers general cases between pelvic lists. A 20° lateral tilt exposes the gallbladder or spleen, a 20° reverse Trendelenburg helps with upper abdominal work, and a 100 mm waist-board lift with shoulder support frames opens the flank. The backboard rises to 75° for upright positions, the headboard drops to 90° for neck extension, and the arm-resting frames and screen frame complete the setup.
Women’s health units, urology departments and district hospitals gain most. The stainless base and column clean easily after fluid-heavy pelvic cases, Y-type seals keep the hydraulics leak-free, and head-position control keeps adjustments with the anaesthetist.
