The 3008 is a hydraulic operating table for general theatres in district and community hospitals, day-surgery units and clinics that run everyday surgical lists. Surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre nurses and operating department practitioners use it for the routine positions most cases need.
General surgery is its main use. A 20° Trendelenburg tips the patient head-down for hernia repair, appendicectomy, and pelvic procedures, while 20° reverse Trendelenburg tips the head up for cholecystectomy and gastric work. Lateral tilt of 20° each way rolls the patient to expose the gallbladder or spleen.
Renal and flank operations use the 100 mm waist board lift, with the shoulder support frames holding the patient on the side. Thyroid and neck surgery uses the headboard, which drops 90° to extend the neck, while the backboard rises 70° for operations performed with the patient semi-sitting.
Gynaecological and urological procedures drop the leg boards 90°, and the leg support frames hold the patient in lithotomy for perineal, vaginal and cystoscopic work. For hand and forearm procedures, arm-resting frames hold the limb away from the body, and the screen frame keeps the anaesthetic area separate from the sterile field.
Hospitals equipping several theatres or replacing ageing tables on a general list gain most from this focused design. Because the head position controls every action, the person managing the airway also manages the table. Y-type seals keep the hydraulics free from oil leakage, and the rotary brake makes moving and securing the table straightforward between cases.
