The Corcym Memo 4D Curve mitral repair ring has landed its first-in-human implant.
The Corcym Memo 4D Curve mitral repair ring has landed its first-in-human implant. The news comes soon after Corcym completed a first-in-human implant of its tricuspid system earlier the same month.
The Corcym Memo 4D Curve broadens the Corcym Memo surgical mitral repair platform. It adds an open-ring shape. The core is a semi-rigid annuloplasty implant with a laser-cut nitinol cell structure.
The device won FDA clearance this past June. It ships in sizes from 24 mm to 42 mm.
Corcym said that size range can address the full spectrum of patient pathology. That includes degenerative disease. It also includes dilated annuli.
The open build has a clinical goal. The Corcym Memo 4D Curve is meant to preserve the three-dimensional motion of the mitral annulus. It remodels and supports the valve's structure to reduce regurgitation.
The Corcym Memo platform uses nitinol-based, semi-rigid tech. It is designed to move with the valve's natural motion.
The first US procedure with the Corcym Memo 4D Curve took place at UVA Health University Medical Center. The site is in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Michael Ibrahim did the case. Ibrahim is the director of robotic cardiac surgery.
Corcym CEO Christian Mazzi framed the implant around choice and community ties.
Mazzi said "the Memo platform takes another step forward, giving surgeons greater choice in mitral valve repair" and reaffirmed Corcym's ongoing commitment to advancing the field alongside "the cardiac surgery community".
Corcym reported the first-in-human implant of the open TriMemo ring earlier this month. That was for tricuspid valve repair at the Cleveland Clinic. Its nitinol structure delivers graduated stiffness. That stiffness matches the flexes in the tricuspid's anatomy.
The Corcym Memo platform dates back 20 years. The line includes the close-ringed Memo 4D. It also includes Memo 3D.
Corcym's mitral and tricuspid portfolio has more parts. It offers the polyester and silicone Annuloflex band. It also offers the Carbomedics family of mechanical valves.
This past March, Corcym recorded a separate US first. That was for its next-generation sutureless aortic valve, the Perceval Plus Lancelot.
Mitral repair rings are a core kit in structural heart surgery. Ring choice shapes leaflet coaptation. It also shapes annular dynamics.
An open, semi-rigid ring with a nitinol cell structure gives surgeons a middle path. It sits between fully rigid rings and fully flexible bands.
For cardiothoracic surgery teams, structural heart programmes, and hospital procurement, the Corcym Memo 4D Curve is a fresh option in mitral annuloplasty. Coverage on Medigear.uk tracks the US rollout, adoption at centres like UVA Health, and how it slots into Corcym's wider Memo, TriMemo, Annuloflex, and Carbomedics stack.
