Technical Engineer
About the Technical Engineer role
About MediGear
MediGear works with healthcare organisations, equipment suppliers and technical professionals to make medical equipment sourcing, delivery and support more accessible across international markets. Our work sits between the commercial and technical sides of healthcare equipment: understanding a requirement, identifying suitable options, coordinating reliable information and helping the right people move an order or project forward professionally.
The role
As a Technical Engineer, you will help make sure medical equipment is evaluated and discussed on the basis of facts. You will review technical requirements, product specifications and supporting documentation, and you will work with suppliers, customers and commercial colleagues when a sale or project requires engineering judgement.
The role is practical as well as technical. Depending on the equipment and project, you may support product evaluation, compatibility checks, installation planning, commissioning coordination, troubleshooting and after-sales technical communication.
How we work together
You will work closely with sales and sourcing colleagues, but technical accuracy remains your responsibility. When information is incomplete, you are expected to verify it. When a matter falls outside your competence or requires manufacturer confirmation, you are expected to say so and escalate it properly.
Your role
- Review technical specifications, manuals, certificates and supplier documentation against customer requirements.
- Support product selection by identifying specification gaps, compatibility questions, accessories, consumables and site requirements.
- Communicate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain missing technical information or clarification.
- Explain technical information to commercial colleagues and customers in clear, accurate language.
- Support installation planning, commissioning coordination and technical handover where relevant to the equipment supplied.
- Assist with troubleshooting and after-sales technical queries, escalating to the manufacturer or specialist service provider when required.
- Maintain accurate technical records for products, projects and recurring issues.
- Help prevent unsuitable equipment from being quoted or supplied where the documented requirement and product capability do not align.
- Support exhibitions, demonstrations or customer meetings where engineering input is needed.
You are the right fit if
- You have a relevant engineering, biomedical, electronics, electrical, mechanical or medical-technology background.
- You can read specifications and technical documents carefully rather than relying on assumptions.
- You are comfortable explaining technical points to people who are not engineers.
- You know the difference between a reasonable engineering judgement and something that must be confirmed by the manufacturer.
- Experience with medical or laboratory equipment is strongly preferred, particularly where installation, service or technical support was part of your work.
- You are organised, calm under pressure and professional with customers and suppliers.
