The KL1205L is a twin-head ceiling light for operating theatres where long, deep and complex procedures are the routine and the whole team crowds around the table. Surgeons, assistants, scrub nurses, and anaesthetists all work under it, and theatres choose it when they need both a strong main light and a second, independently placed source.
General surgery theatres use it for laparotomies, bowel resections, gastrectomies and liver and pancreatic surgery, where the surgeon works deep in the abdomen, and an assistant’s hands and retractors crowd the opening. Seventeen converging beams keep the field lit as people lean in, and a second light is angled into the cavity from the opposite direction.
Obstetric and gynaecological theatres use it for caesarean sections, hysterectomies and complex pelvic surgery. Orthopaedic and trauma theatres use it for hip and knee replacement, spinal surgery and fracture fixation, where two surgeons often work on different parts of the field at the same time, and the satellite head lights the second site.
Thoracic, vascular, and urological teams use the twin arrangement for operations through long incisions, where the main head lights one end of the wound and the satellite head the other. Teaching hospitals value a light that keeps the field visible while trainees and supervisors stand close together.
Mounting both heads on the ceiling keeps the floor clear for the anaesthetic machine, diathermy, suction and instrument trolleys. Upkeep is straightforward: the damaged-bulb indicator flags a bulb that needs replacing, spare 24 V halogen bulbs are kept in the theatre store, and the removable handle sheaths are sterilised with the instruments between cases.
