The KL-D III is an electric operating table for general theatres with a large share of upper abdominal, neck, and shoulder surgery. Surgeons, anaesthetists, scrub nurses and operating department practitioners use it for both open and laparoscopic work.
Upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery make the most of its 35° of reverse Trendelenburg. During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, fundoplication, hiatus hernia repair or gastric surgery, a steep head-up tilt draws the bowel towards the pelvis and clears the view. The 18° lateral tilt rolls the patient further to expose the gallbladder or spleen.
Endocrine and head and neck surgeons lower the headboard by up to 90° to extend the neck for thyroidectomy, parathyroid surgery and tracheostomy. At the same time, a moderate reverse tilt reduces venous pressure in the neck. Orthopaedic teams raise the backboard to 70° and add reverse tilt to bring the patient toward a sitting position for shoulder procedures, using shoulder support frames to steady the body.
The same table covers the rest of a general list. A 25° Trendelenburg supports pelvic and lower abdominal work; the leg boards drop to 90° and open to 180° with the leg support frames for lithotomy; and the 100 mm waist board lift with lumbar corners helps renal and flank approaches. The carbon plastic plate and 300 mm longitudinal travel allow C-arm imaging during fractures, and the screen frame divides the sterile field from the anaesthetist.
Hospitals with busy laparoscopic upper abdominal and endocrine lists gain most. A foot treadle brake and remote control keep daily handling simple, and the stainless covers clean and sterilise easily between cases.
