The FCG is used in prosthetic and orthotic clinics, limb-fitting centres and upper-limb rehabilitation services that finish prostheses with a cosmetic glove. Its users are people with amputation at or below the elbow, or with a congenital hand difference, who wear a cosmetic or passive prosthetic hand and want it covered in a glove made for them.
The workflow it supports runs from assessment to order. At the assessment, the clinician and the wearer agree two things. The first is whether the glove should be filled, forming a hand with its own body, or unfilled, taking the shape of the prosthetic hand inside it. Next comes length: short, finishing at the hand, or long, covering the forearm too. The prosthesis is then measured, the dimensions are recorded with those choices, and the order goes to Wonderful for a glove made to that specification.
That sequence suits services with varied caseloads. A wearer whose prosthesis already has a defined hand form can take an unfilled glove; a wearer who needs the glove to be the hand can take a filled one. A wearer who lives in long sleeves can take the short length, while one who wants a bare forearm can take the long. Prosthetists and technicians can handle all four from one product line, with one ordering routine.
Typical uses include finishing new passive and cosmetic prostheses, replacing worn gloves to an existing record, and moving a wearer to a different combination as their needs change. In every case, the glove is made to that person's dimensions.
