The ALE-1200 is aimed at optical practices and laboratories that glaze a mix of full-rim and semi-rimless spectacles. In an independent optical practice, automatic bevel and groove setting means both frame styles can be finished in-house, with the operator choosing the position that matches the frame profile.
Dispensing opticians gain from the separate ST-1200 Plus scanner. Placed at the dispensing desk, it can trace the customer's chosen frame during the appointment, and its tilting capacitive screen can be angled for whoever is using it, seated or standing. The edger itself can then sit in the workroom, away from the consulting and retail areas.
Optical technicians and glazing staff work with a material range covering PC, high-index, hard resin and glass, and a lens diameter range of 19 to 80 mm. Groove positions suit nylon-supported frames, and bevel positions suit metal and acetate full rims, so one edger handles both kinds of rim.
Optical laboratories serving several branches can use the scanner's 500-set memory to hold shape data for repeat frames, and its template reading up to 70 × 70 mm covers pattern work. Shapes are read along the parallax-free optical path before they reach the edger.
Hospital eye departments and eye clinics with an on-site glazing room can use the pair to complete spectacles for patients within the building. The scanner can stay in the clinic area while the edger runs elsewhere.
Eyewear retailers and multiples with a central workshop can place scanners at branch counters and edging in a hub, building a layout around two separate machines.
