The VX 25 serves refraction rooms in optometry practices and ophthalmology clinics with limited space. Its main argument is space. The display sits about 80 cm from the patient, while the reading distance remains 5 m, so the room needs no standard projection and no inverted mirror. It works with the Eye Refract system or the VX 65 refractor.
The test battery covers visual acuity, binocular vision, colour vision and pathology screening. The acuity range runs from 0.1 to 2.0 (20/500 to 20/10), and it offers several scales and standard tests with regular letter spacing. A 7-inch colour LCD at 1920 × 1200 pixels carries the targets, with a maximum contrast of 1000:1 and a luminance of 250 cd/m².
Viewing stays close to natural. Projection to infinity reduces accommodation, and the patient holds a natural head position. The black matte screen has an anti-reflection coating, and built-in lighting works independently of the room. An exam can be completed in under 3 minutes, which keeps a busy list moving. The design is meant for pre-screen exam rooms, and most staff can operate it. The matte, backlit finish keeps the display in a working environment.
The connection to a phoropter uses RS232-C, infrared, or Wi-Fi, and a 3.5 mm audio jack provides sound. It consumes up to 60 W from a 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz supply, with the screen at 12 V DC and Class 1 electrical shock protection. The unit measures 320 × 315 × 660 mm and weighs 28 kg.
