The ACP-8EM serves refraction rooms in optometry practices and ophthalmology clinics that test distance vision at 3.0 to 6.1 m. Its main argument is speed. A wireless remote gives immediate access to all 30 optotypes, and each chart change takes 0.03 seconds, so the examiner moves through a routine without waiting for the projector.
The 30 optotypes come in two regional character sets, with five optotypes per line, and some charts show 3 × 5 characters over a large area. Masks isolate the chart: one total diaphragm, 5 horizontal masks, 8 vertical masks, and 21 isolated characters; each mask changes in 0.02 seconds. Red and green versions support duochrome work, and a polarised metal screen is listed as an accessory.
Two programme types of 30 steps each store sequences that the examiner can customise. The projector works alone with its wireless remote or with the Topcon CV-5000 autorefractor, controlled through the KB-50S touch panel or external PC software. You can adjust the horizontal axis to centre the image on the screen.
A 12 V 50 W halogen lamp lights the chart, and replacing it needs no repositioning or refocusing. The projector enters standby after 10 minutes of inactivity and draws 80 VA from a 120, 220, 230, or 240 V, 50/60 Hz supply. It measures 300 × 226 × 245 mm including the base and weighs 6.0 kg. It provides 30× magnification at 5 m, with a projection size of 330 × 270 mm. The charts use A, B, F and IS character groups.
