The SCF S.S. R-Files serve dental practices that prepare root canals and want a stainless steel range of fifteen numbered sizes at one taper. In SOCO's wording, the instrument is designed to prepare canal walls, and the clinician chooses each file by number.
The range begins at 06 and 08, continues through 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45, and ends with 50, 55, 60, 70 and 80. SOCO gives a taper of 02 for the whole range and no separate taper for each size, so the practice reads the sizes from their numbers. SOCO says the material is medical stainless steel and that the cross-section is triangular.
Length is a second point of choice. SOCO gives 21, 25 and 31 mm and does not say which sizes come in which length. A buyer who needs a set length for a size confirms it with the supplier first.
Packing offers two routes. A practice that wants one size on hand looks to the X6 single pack. A practice that wants a spread of sizes looks to the X1 assorted packs: one covers sizes 15 to 40, the other 45 to 80, and each pack holds 6 pieces per box.
Colour marks help at the chairside. The labels run grey-toned, purple, white, yellow, red, blue, green and black, and the colours return as the numbers rise. Because 15 and 45 share white, a dental assistant reads both the number and the colour when laying out the tray.
