The SCF R-Files serve dental practices that prepare root canals and want a numbered range of thirteen sizes at one taper. SOCO describes the instrument as designed to prepare canal walls, and the clinician selects each file by size number.
The range runs 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 70 and 80. SOCO lists a taper of 02 for the set and does not give a separate taper for each size, so the practice reads the sizes from their numbers. SOCO says the alloy is NiTi and that the cross-section is triangular, and the picture shows a silver shaft with fine ring marks.
Length is a second point of choice. SOCO lists 21, 25, and 31 mm but does not state which sizes come in which lengths. A buyer who needs a given length for a size should confirm it before ordering.
Packing offers two routes. The single pack is coded X6, and a practice can look at it when it wants one size on hand. The assorted pack is coded X1, with a first pack of sizes 15 to 40 and a second pack of sizes 45 to 80, and each pack holds 6 pieces per box.
Colour marks help at the chairside. The size labels run purple, white, yellow, red, blue, green and black, and the colours repeat as the numbers rise. Because 15 and 45 share white, a dental assistant should read the number as well as the colour when laying out the tray.
