The SCF K-Files serve dental practices that perform root canal work and need a numbered range of 13 NiTi sizes. In SOCO's wording, the instruments are used to locate the root canal and clean and shape the canal walls, and the clinician selects each file by number.
The range runs from 10 through 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45, and on to 50, 55, 60, 70 and 80. SOCO says the alloy is NiTi and that the cross-section is diamond-shaped. SOCO provides no taper for any size, so a practice that requires a taper figure should confirm it with the supplier before placing an order.
Length is the second choice. Lengths of 21, 25 and 31 mm are shown, and SOCO does not tie a length to any one size. A buyer who needs a set length for a size asks for it when ordering.
Packing offers two routes. For one size kept on hand, the X6 single pack is the route. A practice that wants a spread of sizes looks to the X1 assorted pack, which appears as two boxes: one covering sizes 15 to 40 and another covering sizes 45 to 80, each holding 6 pieces.
Handles help at the chairside. The picture shows a red handle with a ridged grip, and the size labels run through seven colours before the sequence returns to white. Since 15 and 45 are both white, the number is read along with the colour when the tray is laid out.
