The CYF-5A serves urology departments that perform cystoscopy with a flexible fibre scope and want suction in the same instrument. Urology theatres, endoscopy suites, and clinics all use a scope like this, and the urologist, the endoscopy nurse, and the reprocessing staff each handle it at a different point in the process. Each role meets a different part of the scope: the eyepiece, the bending control, the suction function or the reprocessing routine.
Suction shapes where the scope earns its place. When fluid must be drawn out of the field during the examination, one instrument stays in the operator's hand for both looking and aspirating. The 120° field of view shows the surroundings of the tip, and the depth of field from 3 to 50 mm keeps tissue in view from close range out to a wider distance.
Handling follows from the flexible design. The tip bends 210° up and 120° down, so the operator steers through the examination with the bending control and follows the line of the passage. The 5.5 mm insertion tube holds the fibre image path, the light path and the 2.4 mm channel together over a working length of 38 cm.
A separate source provides the light, and the light guide connects the scope to it. Upkeep centres on reprocessing: the scope needs reprocessing before first use and after every case, so one instrument can serve each list in turn. Pre-list checks cover the eyepiece, the light guide connection, and the suction function.
