The CYF-4 is used to examine the urethra and bladder in urology departments and endoscopy units where flexible cystoscopy is part of the daily list. The examination room holds the scope beside its light source, and the fibre-optic image bundle delivers the picture to the control head.
A urologist operates the instrument from the control head, while a nurse prepares accessories and attends to the patient. The operator controls the bending with the same hand, directing the tip while watching the image. The picture stays with the operator at the control head from the first moment of the examination.
The first use is examination. The 5.2 mm tube enters through the urethra, and its 380 mm working length carries the tip toward the bladder. Over a forward view of 120° and a depth of field from 3 to 50 mm, tissue near the tip and tissue farther ahead share one picture. The tip turns 210° up and 120° down toward the area of interest.
The second use is sampling. The 2.4 mm channel opens at the control head and exits at the tip, which brings accessories to tissue under the forward view. Examination and the sampling that follows it take place in a single pass.
The third use is routine inspection across a full list. Each patient meets the same 5.2 mm tube, the same bend and the same channel, which lets a unit organise a session around one familiar instrument. The picture, steering, and sampling route stay constant from the first examination of the day to the last.
