Laboratories that reprocess pipettes in a Miele PG 8535 or PG 8536 laboratory washer-disinfector use the E 405/1. Laboratory technicians and glass-washing staff place pipettes of several volumes on it, up to 38 in a load, as they return from the bench.
The three rows suit a stock that mixes volumes. Pipettes of up to 100 ml and 550 mm go in row one, which holds 10. Pipettes of 25 ml go in row two, which holds 14, and pipettes of 10 ml go in row three, which holds 14. Staff therefore sort a returning batch by volume as they load, and every row has its own bar spacing: 20 mm for row one and 26 mm for the other two. Rows two and three share the 26 mm spacing, so the two smaller volumes are set out alike.
The washer works with the unit through its bracket for the ML/2. It detects the mobile unit and adjusts its cycles, with spray arm control included, so the load is handled as a pipette load. A connection for hot air drying lets a programme finish with drying, which leaves the pipettes ready for the next sample. Both the PG 8535 and the PG 8536 take the unit, so a laboratory with either machine can use it.
The unit is made of plastic and stainless steel, in black and stainless steel, and it weighs 6.2 kg net, or 8.1 kg gross.
