The E 404/1 serves laboratories that reprocess pipettes in a Miele PG 8535 or PG 8536 laboratory washer-disinfector. Laboratory technicians and glass-washing staff load it with pipettes from 1 ml to 100 ml, up to 38 at a time, as they come back from the bench. Miele defines its application area as reprocessing pipettes.
Loading is organised by size. Long 100 ml pipettes of up to 550 mm go in the first row, 25 ml sizes in the second and 10 ml and smaller in the third. Each pipette sits pointed-end down in its own holder in the base, with its upper end held on the support rail, so the whole batch is placed the same way every time. Staff keep every pipette below the top of the water intake pipe and within the unit's sides.
The mobile design shapes the routine around the machine. The full set of pipettes is loaded on the unit, rolls into the washer-disinfector as one load and comes out the same way at the end of the programme. Miele pairs the E 404/1 with the LAB PIPETTES programme. When you use another reprocessing programme, water intake rises by 5 litres on the PG 8536 and by 6 litres on the PG 8535, so you can plan water demand for a pipette load.
