The 27023AA is used for cystoscopy, the direct examination of the bladder and the urethra. An operator introduces the telescope with a cystoscopy sheath and follows the lower urinary tract under light from a compatible source. The 6° forward direction of view keeps the part of the lumen ahead of the tip in sight as the instrument advances. Each examination moves from the urethra into the bladder, with the picture carried to the eyepiece throughout.
The forward view supports findings such as lesions, inflammation, strictures, tumours, and stones. Because the view lies almost along the axis of the shaft, the operator reads the lumen in front of the tip as the telescope moves forward, and the bladder wall comes into view once the telescope enters the bladder. The eyepiece is where the operator reads the image.
Hospitals, urology clinics and high-volume diagnostic units are its settings. In these departments, the operator holds the telescope through a series of examinations, and the rigid stainless steel shaft keeps the optical path in a fixed line from case to case. The ergonomically shaped eyepiece sits at the operator's end, so the picture is comfortable to view throughout the session.
Irrigation and biopsy tools work alongside the telescope, so inspection and sampling can follow one another within the same examination. Urologists operate the telescope, while nurses and technicians prepare the sheath, light source, and surrounding tools. Because the telescope works with standard cystoscopy sheaths, a department that holds those sheaths can pair them with it. Together, they form a working set that suits a department with a regular cystoscopy list.
