Hidalgo sits just north of the capital region, so Pachuca buyers weigh local suppliers against Mexico City distributors.
Hidalgo counted about 3.1 million people in 2020, around 16 percent more than a decade earlier. The governor and state ministries work from Pachuca, about an hour and a half from Mexico City. The other main centres are Tula and Tulancingo, and the southern municipalities increasingly look to the capital region.
MediGear is a UK-registered medical equipment distributor and B2B marketplace working with verified manufacturers and healthcare buyers in more than 80 countries. Its partner program opens that catalogue to businesses in Hidalgo selling into IMSS-Bienestar hospitals in Pachuca, IMSS and ISSSTE clinics in Tula and Tulancingo, private hospitals, occupational health providers and university laboratories.
Three program tracks are open to businesses in Hidalgo. Different business models, the same catalogue behind them — the right one depends on how much of the transaction you want to own.
Agents introduce qualified hospitals, clinics, distributors and procurement teams to MediGear. The role focuses on generating opportunities and connecting buyers with the team; MediGear handles quotations, supply, documentation, and fulfilment. Earnings are commission-based on confirmed sales; no purchasing or inventory is required, and sales materials and product support are provided. From Pachuca, an agent reaches Tula and Tulancingo within an hour. Proximity to the capital lets a hospital equipment supplier in Hidalgo draw on Mexico City stock.
Distributors represent MediGear in an agreed country, region or territory and actively develop the local market — Pachuca and the south, the Huasteca, or the whole state. Products are purchased at distributor level for onward supply, and territorial rights may be exclusive or non-exclusive. Market development, commercial support, and regulatory and import coordination are included.
Resellers purchase at wholesale and resell independently through an existing medical business, online store, sales network,k or customer base. Order quantities are flexible, and you sell on your own terms to your own customers. Resellers operate independently without territorial or official distribution rights, so there is no territorial commitment and no market development obligation.
The program is open to Mexican companies holding an RFC tax registration and a genuine route to healthcare buyers. Applications commonly come from:
Equipment distributors and importers already supplying public and private hospitals
Independent sales agents with contacts in theatre, imaging, pathology or dental
Online medical supply stores and e-commerce operators
Biomedical engineering firms adding equipment sales to service contracts
Practice fit-out, day surgery and healthcare project companies
Dental, laboratory and veterinary equipment resellers
Speed of response is the differentiator. Local loyalty follows the medical equipment supplier in Hidalgo that beats Mexico City distributors on service. Industrial zones around Tula also buy occupational health equipment for refinery and cement workers.
Competitive margins. Partner-level commercial terms apply across the catalogue, with performance recognised for partners who hit agreed targets.
Full product catalogue. Certified equipment across diagnostics, surgical and therapeutic, lab and pathology, sterilisation, hospital furniture, dental, ENT and ophthalmic, rehabilitation, orthopaedic, cardiology, gastroenterology, neonatal, dermatology, veterinary and spare parts.
Sourcing and quotation support. Send an enquiry and the team sources the product, negotiates with the manufacturer and returns a documented quotation — including items outside the current catalogue.
Direct partnerships team. Order queries, supplier negotiations, logistics coordination, and after-sales issues go straight to the team by email, so you can focus on selling rather than chasing suppliers.
Marketing support. Co-branded brochures, digital assets, product imagery,ry and joint campaigns you can put in front of buyers in Hidalgo.
Regulatory support. Country-specific import guidance, certification documentation, ion and connections to local regulatory consultants for market entry questions.
Medical devices are regulated by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk, which issues the sanitary registration required before a device is marketed and classifies products by risk. Its procedures are published by COFEPRIS.
Registration is held by a Mexican entity, and equivalence agreements allow approvals from certain reference regulators to shorten review for eligible products. Health policy and the wider institutional framework sit with the Ministry of Health.
Import clearance is administered by the National Customs Agency of Mexico, with sanitary controls applied at entry alongside tariff treatment. MediGear is not the registration holder for partner products and does not give regulatory advice.

X-ray machines, ultrasound systems, and infusion pumps reach state hospitals through public tenders. Growth in the south lifts sales of medical devices and supplies in Hidalgo. Hospital Español Pachuca is one of the main private buyers in the state.
New housing near the capital region adds clinics and pharmacies each year, particularly in the municipalities closest to Mexico City. The 2020 census added some 418,000 residents to the 2010 total.
The Huasteca hills in the north need portable equipment and reliable delivery routes, especially in the rainy season. In the south, the Padre Tembleque aqueduct, shared with Mexico State, has been protected as World Heritage since 2015.
This page is published for general business and information purposes and is not an offer of partnership. MediGear reviews all applications, and approval is not guaranteed. Any partnership that proceeds is governed by the written terms agreed between MediGear and the partner. Product availability, category coverage, territory arrangements, commercial terms,s and any commission or margin structure vary by application and may change. The regulatory information here is general information about the Mexican framework and is not legal, regulatory or professional advice. Requirements administered by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk, including sanitary registration and any applicable equivalence route, depend on the device, its risk class, its intended purpose and the Mexican entity holding the registration. Partner businesses remain responsible for confirming what applies to their own products, and should obtain qualified regulatory, customs,s or legal advice where required.
Apply with your business details, the states you cover and the track that interests you. The MediGear partnerships team reviews every application and will come back to you to discuss it.
The program is open to Mexican companies holding an RFC tax registration and a genuine route to healthcare buyers in Hidalgo: equipment distributors and importers, independent sales agents, online medical supply stores, biomedical engineering firms, hospital project companies, and dental, laboratory, or veterinary resellers. Speciality experience carries more weight than company size.
Three. Sales agents introduce hospitals, clinics, distributors and procurement teams and earn commission on confirmed sales without holding stock. Authorised distributors represent MediGear in an agreed territory, purchase at distributor level,l and develop the local market. Resellers buy at wholesale and resell independently through a business they already run, without territorial rights or commitments.
No. Joining is free for businesses in Hidalgo. There are no registration charges, subscriptio,ns or upfront payments required to become an agent, distribu, tor or reseller. Distributors and resellers purchase the products they sell, and partners arrange their own local delivery, storage, range, and any marketing they run beyond the assets MediGear provides.
Agents earn commission on confirmed sales rather than a retainer. The rate depends on the product category, the order value, and the volume you bring, and is confirmed in writing before you begin introducing buyers. Because agents hold no stock and carry no inventory risk, earnings simply follow completed orders.
Exclusive territorial rights are available to qualified distributors who can demonstrate market reach, financial capability, bility and alignment with MediGear standards, and are assessed case by case. Non-exclusive distribution is also offered and is more common for partners entering a new product category. Most partners run the state from Pachuca, and a medical equipment distributor in Hidalgo can also join a wider central region.
Partners receive onboarding, product knowledge materials, regulatory guidance for their market, sales tools, and co-branded marketing assets. The partnerships team handles order queries, supplier negotiations, and logistics coordination, including certification and customs documentation for inbound consignments.
As a general rule, yes. A sanitary registration from the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk is required before a device is marketed, with the registration held by a Mexican entity. Equivalence routes can shorten review where a product already holds an approval from a recognised reference regulator. MediGear is not the registration holder for partner products, so confirm your position with the commission.
Not on its own, but it can help significantly. Approvals from certain reference regulators may be relied on under equivalence arrangements to shorten the Mexican review, while sanitary registration itself remains a separate requirement. Confirm eligibility for each product before quoting.
