Almost every northbound consignment passes through Puli Khumri. MediGear partners in Baghlan use that position instead of watching it go by.
Baghlan sits on the main highway between Kabul and the northern provinces, with Puli Khumri as both the provincial centre and a transit point that almost every northbound consignment passes through. Sugar and mining industry facilities add occupational health demand that the public system does not carry.
MediGear is a UK-registered medical equipment distributor and B2B marketplace working with verified manufacturers and healthcare buyers in more than 80 countries. Its partner program opens that catalogue to Baghlan businesses selling into the provincial hospital in Puli Khumri, district hospitals along the highway, private clinics serving transit traffic, and the health facilities in the Andarab valleys.
Three program tracks are open to Baghlan businesses. Different business models, the same catalogue behind them — the right one depends on how much of the transaction you want to own.
Agents introduce qualified hospitals, clinics, distributors and procurement teams to MediGear. The role focuses on generating opportunities and connecting buyers with the team; MediGear handles quotations, supply, documentation and fulfilment. Earnings are commission-based on confirmed sales; no purchasing or inventory is required, and MediGear provides sales materials and product support. It suits representatives who understand how a highway province raises requirements and how transit traffic shapes what facilities actually need.
Distributors represent MediGear in an agreed country, region or territory and actively develop the local market — Puli Khumri and the highway districts, the Andarab valleys, or the province as a single coverage area. Distributors purchase products at distributor level for onward supply, and territorial rights may be exclusive or non-exclusive. The program includes market development, commercial support, and regulatory and import coordination.
Resellers purchase at wholesale and resell independently through an existing medical business, online store, sales network or customer base. Order quantities are flexible, and you sell on your own terms to your own customers. Resellers operate independently without territorial or official distribution rights, so there is no territorial commitment and no market development obligation.
Licensed Afghan companies with access to healthcare buyers in the province can apply. Applications commonly come from:
Equipment distributors and importers already supplying public and private hospitals
Independent sales agents with contacts in theatre, imaging, pathology or dental
Online medical supply retailers and e-commerce operators
Biomedical engineering firms adding equipment sales to service contracts
Practice fit-out, day surgery and healthcare project companies
Highway clinic and trauma facility equipment resellers
Transit awareness is the qualification. An agency in Puli Khumri that understands what moves through the Salang can supply the north as well as its own province.
Competitive margins. Partner-level commercial terms apply across the catalogue, with performance recognised for partners who hit agreed targets.
Full product catalogue. Certified equipment across diagnostics, surgical and therapeutic, lab and pathology, sterilisation, hospital furniture, dental, ENT and ophthalmic, rehabilitation, orthopaedic, cardiology, gastroenterology, neonatal, dermatology, veterinary and spare parts.
Sourcing and quotation support. Send an enquiry and the team sources the product, negotiates with the manufacturer and returns a documented quotation — including items outside the current catalogue.
Direct partnerships team. Order queries, supplier negotiations, logistics coordination, and after-sales issues go straight to the team by email, so you can focus on selling rather than chasing suppliers.
Marketing support. Co-branded brochures, digital assets, product imagery and joint campaigns you can put in front of Australian buyers.
Regulatory support. Country-specific import guidance, certification documentation, and connections to local regulatory consultants for market-entry questions.
The National Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority regulates medicines and health products and oversees registration and market supervision nationally. Device requirements are still developing, so confirm the position for your product class before committing to stock.
Because most northern consignments pass through here, the entry documentation is usually settled at Hairatan or Sher Khan Bandar before goods arrive. A partner who checks that file in transit catches problems before they reach a hospital store. The framework is administered alongside the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority, and importers must hold an activity licence covering the goods they bring in. What applies depends on the device and its classification.
Clearance is a separate exercise. The customs administration under the Ministry of Finance processes consignments, where duty and documentation are assessed. MediGear is not the registration holder for partner products and does not give regulatory advice.
Apply online. Complete the partner application form and tell us about your market, your experience and which track interests you.
Discovery call. The partnerships team reviews your application and arranges a call to discuss goals, coverage and fit.
Agreement and onboarding. Sign the partner agreement and complete onboarding, including commercial terms, product training and marketing assets.
Start earning. Begin selling, distributing, or referring while MediGear coordinates manufacturing, documentation, and freight.
Position is the first advantage. Sitting on the main north road means a partner here can serve Baghlan and support onward delivery to Kunduz, Samangan and Balkh from the same stock.
Second is trauma demand. Highway facilities see a steady volume of road trauma, which drives predictable demand for resuscitation, imaging and surgical equipment.
Third is the valleys. Andarab and the eastern districts are poorly served, and a partner willing to reach them faces very little competition. The province also sees a steady flow of referrals from Samangan and the Andarab valleys, which raises what the provincial hospital must be able to stabilise. Equipment specified for that load lasts; equipment specified for a quieter province does not. Position on that road is worth more than any commercial concession.
This page is published for general business and information purposes and is not an offer of partnership. MediGear reviews all applications, and approval is not guaranteed. Any partnership that proceeds is governed by the written terms agreed between MediGear and the partner. Product availability, category coverage, territory arrangements, commercial terms and any commission or margin structure vary by application and may change. The regulatory information here is general information about the Baghlan framework and is not legal, regulatory or professional advice. Requirements administered by the national regulator, including registration and import permission, depend on the device, its classification and its intended purpose, and the framework continues to develop. Partner businesses remain responsible for confirming what applies to their own products, and should obtain qualified regulatory, customs or legal advice where required.
Apply with your business details, the districts you cover and the track that interests you. The MediGear partnerships team reviews every application and will come back to you to discuss it.
Licensed Afghan companies with access to healthcare buyers in the province can apply: equipment distributors and importers, independent sales agents, online medical supply retailers, biomedical engineering firms, healthcare project companies, and resellers of highway clinics or trauma facilities. Speciality experience carries more weight than company size.
Three. Sales agents introduce hospitals, clinics, distributors and procurement teams and earn commission on confirmed sales without holding stock. Authorised distributors represent MediGear in an agreed territory, purchase at distributor level and develop the local market. Resellers buy at wholesale and resell independently through a business they already run, without territorial rights or commitments.
No. Joining is free for Baghlan businesses. There are no registration charges, subscriptions or upfront payments required to become an agent, distributor or reseller. Distributors and resellers purchase the products they sell, and partners cover their own trading costs, such as local delivery, storage, and any marketing they run beyond the assets MediGear provides.
Agents earn commission on confirmed sales, not a retainer. The rate depends on the product category, order value, and the volume you bring, and we confirm it in writing before you begin introducing buyers. Because agents hold no stock and carry no inventory risk, they earn on completed orders.
We offer exclusive territorial rights to qualified distributors who can demonstrate market reach, financial capability, and alignment with MediGear standards; we assess each case individually. Non-exclusive distribution is also offered and is more common for partners entering a new product category. A territory may be Puli Khumri and the highway districts, the Andarab valleys, or the whole province for one product group.
Partners receive onboarding, product knowledge materials, regulatory guidance for their market, sales tools and co-branded marketing assets. The partnerships team handles order queries, supplier negotiations and logistics coordination, including certification and customs documentation for inbound consignments.
The national regulator does, not a provincial body. Registration and import permission are handled centrally and apply nationwide, and the framework is still developing. Confirm the position for each device before ordering, because MediGear is not the registration holder for partner products.
Only where the agreed territory covers it, the position on the north road makes onward supply practical, and several partners see it as a natural extension. Because it changes the coverage other partners are offered, partners agree on reach explicitly rather than assume it. Partners covering the highway districts are also expected to keep consumables on hand locally, because trauma demand doesn't wait for a delivery run from the capital. Buffer levels are agreed at the outset rather than negotiated afterwards.
