What Is Microcirculation?
Microcirculation refers to the flow of blood through very tiny blood vessels, called capillaries.
-
These vessels are much thinner than a human hair
-
They make up 74% of the entire circulatory system
-
If joined together, their total length is about 120,000 km (around twice the Earth’s circumference)
Even though they are tiny, microcirculation is extremely important because it:
-
Delivers oxygen
-
Delivers vitamins, minerals, and hormones
-
Reaches every cell in the body (over 90 trillion cells)
Without good microcirculation, cells do not get enough nutrients and oxygen.
